Landmark Norfolk cycling event the Norwich 100 took place on Sunday 6 June. Close to 900 cyclists completed either a 30, 60 or an impressive 100 mile ride around the county. Given the beautiful weather (for the morning at least), and the stunning scenery they passed from the Forum out to the coast via Horsey Mill and up to Blakeney, and then back past Blickling Hall and the Norfolk Broads at Coltishall, the riders returned to the finish in Chapelfield Gardens tired but smiling.

Tom Holmes, Big C Events and Engagement Manager said: “We would like to extend a heartfelt Big C thank you to all the cyclists who took part in this fantastic event. Thanks to the generous support of our corporate sponsors as well as the individual fundraising efforts of many of the riders, early indications are that the event has raised over £20,000. We will confirm the final total once all fundraising has been received. This incredible amount is going directly to our ‘Nearer to home’ appeal, raising funds to build a new cancer support centre on Dereham Road in Norwich. With the builders due to start on site this month, and the build completed in early 2022, the funds raised through Norwich 100 will make a huge difference in helping us achieve our vision to bring greater cancer care nearer to home for Norwich residents.”

The event sponsors included Independent Financial Planners Loveday and Partners whose team of eleven finished the event in great spirits. The other sponsors for the event were Norwich Accountancy Services, Solar Signs Graphics, Lanpro, Dardan Security, Nature’s Menu, Heat Norfolk, Price Bailey and EAMA – many of whom had staff taking part in the cycling event.

Mark Loveday, Director of main sponsor Loveday and Partners said: “We chose to sponsor this event and continue our support of Big C because they contribute significantly to the improvement of cancer prevention, diagnosis, care and treatment in our county. Proactively working to improve these areas is essential and Big C fund a significant amount of scientific research, whilst also providing practical support in our community when it is most needed. We also chose to support Big C this year in memory of Ted Hare, a trustee of Big C who recently passed away.”

Jon Hook, Director of Norwich Accountancy added: “It’s a privilege to sponsor Big C cancer charity and the Norwich 100! I’m supporting this event in memory of a great man Michael Hook – my  Dad – who sadly passed away from cancer earlier this year. He was my hero and will be greatly missed.”
